30.10.2004

At the 49th Valladolid International Film Festival, which ended on October 30th, Geneva animated filmmaker Georges Schwizgebel, who celebrated his 60th birthday this year, was awarded the Special Jury Prize for his latest work “L’homme sans ombre”/“The Man Without A Shadow,” a Swiss-Canadian co-production. The 10-minute-long animated film – an interpretation of Chamisso’s romantic novella of the Peter Schlmihl’s pact with the devil – has already been recognized at Cannes, Zagreb, and Namur this year.

Switzerland was invited as a special guest country in Valladolid, which is the second largest Spanish film festival. For this event, a selection of 15 long and 15 short Swiss films were presented, and a number of Swiss directors received an invitation to attend. The seven-member international jury was presided over by French film author Robert Guédiguian.
