“So Long, My Heart!” in Cannes

03.05.2007

The second feature film “Wir werden uns wiederseh’n/ So Long, My Heart!” by Oliver Paulus and Stefan Hillebrand, which was produced in 2006 (Production: Motorfilm Zurich, Frischfilm Production, Mannheim), will be screened as part of the “ACID” series at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, May 24, 2007. This is the film’s first showing in France, while it celebrated its international premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September 2006 where it was presented in the Zabaltegi section.
Organized by the “Association du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion” (ACID), the screenings in Cannes aim to support the distribution of innovative films in France. The nightly audience is comprised of numerous art cinema distributors and representatives, who, through their thoughtful programming, often path the way for the screened films to French cinemas.

“So Long, My Heart!”uses a unique, documentary-fictional style, which the director’s team already employed in their first long feature film “When the Right One Comes Along”. Their most recent film tells the story of the love troubles of a nurse, who, in his intent to flee from a relationship, accepts a job in an elderly home. The film premiered in San Sebastian in 2006, and was shown at international festivals in Mannheim and Havana, before it screened for the first time in Switzerland at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2007.
