The feature film “Silberwald” was honoured in Munich with one of the three Starter Awards, endowed with EUR 6,000. This is the third award for the debut film by the 30-year-old Swiss director Christine Repond.

The feature film, produced by Dschoint Ventschr in Zurich, tells of how a group of boys in Emmental struggle with mounting anger which escalates in acts of violence and their attempt to find a release for their aggression by joining a skinhead gang.

The jury, deeply impressed by the film, issued the following statement: "... issues such as emotional isolation, xenophobia and a sense of hopelessness are all addressed in "Silberwaldۚ" by Christine Repond, who also wrote the screenplay, packed into a universal story that reveals the director's talent and das empathy."

In May 2011 Christine Repond won the NDR Director's Award in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, endowed with EUR 5,000, with her film. And at the beginning of this year, "Silberwald" had already won the Interfilm Award in Saarbrücken.

The city of Munich presents the "Starter Film Awards" to young, artistically outstanding directors. The award aims to foster filmmakers from Munich as they launch their careers and provide support as they develop professionally. Swiss director Repond received her BA from the MHMK (Macromedia University for Media and Communication) in Munich.
