26.08.2009

The fiction film “Ordinary People” by Serbian director Vladimir Perisic, a coproduction with Prince Films, Jura, triumphed at the 15th Sarajevo Film Festival (August 12-20, 2009): it was honoured with the “Heart of Sarajevo” Award for Best Film. And at the 5th Vancouver Queer Film Festival (August 13-23, 2009), the fiction film “Soundless Wind Chime” by Kit Hung – a coproduction between Hong Kong and Switzerland (Das Kollektiv, Zurich) – won the Best International Feature Award.
The two coproductions have already represented Switzerland at the film festivals in Berlin and Cannes: in February the film “Soundless Wind Chime” by Kit Hung, who lives in the canton of Uri, premiered in the Forum of New Cinema, qualifying him for a nomination for the Teddy Award at the Berlinale. The film has since won two awards at the Gay&Lesbian Film Festival in Turin. It has not been released in Switzerland yet.

The film “Ordinary People”, which addresses the issue of how unquestioned obedience in times of war can lead to barbarianism, was screened in the International Critics’ Week Competition in Cannes. The film will be distributed in Swiss cinemas by Xenix Film.
