Swiss documentary film “Hidden Heart” at film festival in Tehran

29.01.2009

The documentary film “Hidden Heart” by Cristina Karrer and Werner Schweizer (production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich), which won the Zurich Film Prize 2008, will be screened at the 27th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran (February 1-11, 2009).
“Hidden Heart” traces two parallel life stories: one is about the heart surgeon, Christian Barnard, who made history by successfully transplanting a human heart in 1967 and became famous overnight; and the other is about the brilliant surgeon, Hamilton Naki, who assisted at this operation as a black man without any rights at that time and gained recognition only after the Apartheid in 1994 and was awarded the honorary doctorate from the university in Cape Town. The documentary film has already been screened at international festivals – in Seville, Kassel and St. Petersburg – and will be released in cinemas in South Africa in April.
