The documentary film “Die Wiesenberger” won the Audience Award endowed with EUR 1,000 at the International Eberswalde Filmfest (Germany). This marks the second time the film about the singing mountaineers and their choir from Central Switzerland has won the hearts of a festival audience.

The feature-length documentary film “Die Wiesenberger - No Business Like Show Business” by Bernard Weber and Martin Schilt won the Audience Award for Documentary Film endowed with EUR 1,000 at the 9th International Eberswalde Filmfest (October 6-13, 2012). The film was screened in the International Competition and featured as the opening film of the festival in Eberswalde. It had already captivated the audience at the Solothurn Film Festival 2012 last January.

Dilemma for the “singing mountaineers”
“Die Wiesenberger - No Business Like Show Business” portrays a yodelling choir from Central Switzerland. Their breakthrough turns their world upside down, for they are bombarded with concert offers, including a very special request: the yodellers from the canton of Nidwalden are invited to represent Switzerland at the world exposition in Shanghai. The tempting offer turns into a crucial test. The film has already attracted nearly 50,000 viewers since its theatrical release (Xenix Filmdistribution, Zurich) last February.
