21.01.2009

The most recent films by three filmmakers from the French-speaking region of Switzerland and three Swiss co-productions will be screened at the 32nd Göteborg International Film Festival (January 23-February 2, 2009). Lionel Baier’s fiction film “Un autre homme” will be presented in the “Fem kontinenter” section, and the documentary films “Nomad's Land” by Gaël Métroz and “La forteresse” by Fernand Melgar will be screened in the “Dokumentärt” section. Melgar’s film has already won a number of international awards. The festival in Göteborg, the second largest city in Sweden, ranks among the most important film events in Scandinavia.
In addition, the following three Swiss co-productions will be screened in Göteborg; “Tulpan“ by Sergei Dvortsevoy; “The Photographer” by Nan Triven Achnas; and “Women” by Huang Wenhai.

The festival is devoted to independent filmmaking and presents approximately 450 films from seventy countries to a large audience, with more than 120,000 tickets sold every year. Another important part of the festival is the Nordic Film Market, an international sales platform which runs from January 29-February 1.
