Swiss short films win in Brest and Bristol

At the 12th Brief Encounters Short Film Festival in Bristol, which ended on November 26, 2006, the short animated film “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis” by Claude Barras took home the New Talent Award. Claude Barras was in attendance and accepted the award with a prize sum of 2,500 £ (6,000 CHF). A second Swiss short film, “Cevapcici” by Jonas Meier, won the Canal+ Prize at the 21st Brest International Short Film Festival. This prize comes with the purchase of broadcasting rights by the French television station Canal+.
The witty animated film “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis” has been shown at over 15 international film festivals. It won the SSA/SUIssimage audience award at Solothurn, and received the Kodak prize at the Festival Cinématou in Geneva. The video clip “Cevapcici”, co-produced with the Lucerne School of Art and Design, and with a score composed by Ellen Alien, illustrates the preparation of the “Cevapcici” meat dish at a Turkish Kebob booth.
