Taking stock: “Short Film Nights” on tour 05 in German speaking part of Switzerland and starting soon in the Romandie

Short Film Nights, an event organized by SWISS FILMS, is touring 18 cities in Switzerland in 2005, among them nine in the German speaking part of the country and nine in the Romandie and the Ticino. On a single night, a wide range of short films are presented. The third tour in the German part of Switzerland, on the road between April and May, and sold 7,294 tickets, 2000 more than in 2004. Tickets were sold out in Zurich, Basel, St. Gall, Lucerne, and Berne. In mid-September, the tour will start in the Romandie and the Ticino.
The audience in the German part of Switzerland was able to discover more than 40 short films of various genres, with animated movies having a strong presence among all the programs. Due to large interest, programs in Basel, Lucerne, and Schaffhausen were shown in parallel in two different locations. For the first time, the Swiss Film Prize award winners for “Best Short Film” and “Best Animated Film” were part of the tour and showcased these new talents. In general, the festive atmosphere, with local premieres and the presence of filmmakers, gave the events great character: In Basel, “Mr. Goldstein” by Micha Lewinskyhad ist premiere, while Rolf Brönimann accompanied his animated film “Hang over” and Christina Zulauf was present at the show of her feature film “Der Ausflug.” Similarly, Ted Sieger was a guest in Berne at the screening of “The little Monster.”

The tour “Nuits du court” starts September 16 in Geneva and will be in the Romandie and the Ticino until November 18, 2005. The program will be released at the beginning of September.
