Paris festival ends with Richard Dindo’s “Who was Kafka?”
The 28th Festival Cinéma du réel will present the Parisian audience with the premiere of the French version of Richard Dindo’s documentary film “Who was Kafka?” The surprise screening will take place on Saturday, March 18th, after the award ceremony, while the festival ends on March 19th. On Sunday, March 19th, the Swiss filmmaker, who is living in Paris part-time, will be in attendance for a podium discussion.For the French version of his film, Dindo was able to engage the well-known actor Sami Frey to do the narration. His voice was already present in another Swiss film, “Zwischensaison” (1992) by Daniel Schmid. Richard Dindo has gained fame in France with his films “Arthur Rimbaud – une biographie” (1991), “Ernesto Che Guevarra: the Bolivian Diary” (1994), and “Genet à Chatila” (1999). In “Who was Kafka?” the Prague poet comes to life through actors interpreting his texts amidst his circle of friends. The film has been shown in Swiss movie theatres since mid-February (Distribution: Filmcoopi).
