Une tuerie perpétrée par un tueur fou bouleverse la Suisse. En même temps, le destin d’immigrés turcs et d’une petite famille allemande croise celui d’un couple suisse modèle suite à un accident automobile aux conséquences tragiques. Pendant que les six membres de la famille turque Özel craignent pour la vie de leur fils Kemal et que le couple allemand Marion et Manfred, plongé dans le deuil de leur fille Sabine, retrouve enfin une langue commune, la relation du couple épris de jouissance Peter et Esther se brise sur la question de la responsabilité de l’accident.
