1982. Le cinéaste munichois Rainer Werner Fassbinder, sentant sa mort imminente, décide de se faire cryogéniser. Son but: Profiter de cette enjambée temporelle pour faire un point sur le monde, un «Etat des choses» objectif et radical. 2028. Fassbinder se réveille en France. Le pays est tombé sous le joug d’une dictature sinistre.
