Zwischen Zerbrechlichkeit, Empfindsamkeit und Perfektion: Für Freunde wie Charlie Chaplin, aber auch für viele heutige Musiker war und ist die Klaviervirtuosin Clara Haskil (1895-1960) eine Interpretin, die wie keine andere Massstäbe gesetzt hat. Die in Bukarest geborene Rumänin hat als Jüdin zwei Weltkriege überlebt und bewahrte sich trotz ihrer labilen Gesundheit stets ihre Kraft. Warum gilt sie heute noch als Referenzpunkt? Der Film geht dieser Frage nach und erlaubt uns zu entdecken, warum Vladimir Horowitz, Christian Zacharias und Pablo Casals sie als «geniale Interpretin» betrachten.
