Charlotte, 16 ans, a besoin de rentrer dans son appartement: son frère Jamie, 14 ans, est sur le point de se blesser. Mais qui dans son HLM l’aidera? En fonction des décisions qu’elle prend elle-même et de sa chance, elle échoue ou arrive trop tard ou juste à temps… À ce moment-là seulement, elle se rend compte que ce qui lui apparaissait comme autant de possibilités n’était en somme que les variations de son immuable destinée.
