Die Fledermaus ist halb Vierbeiner, halb Fluggeschöpf, und doch keines von beidem – ein Monster sozusagen. Ihre Bewegung in der Luft gleicht weniger einem Flug, sondern vielmehr einer Art unsicherem Flattern, das ihr nur mit grosser Anstrengung und sehr unbeholfen zu gelingen scheint.
Il movimento dell'animale nell'aria non è un volo ma un volteggiamento aleatorio e incerto, che sembra eseguito in una maniera sinistra. Il pipistrello veniva chiamato un essere mostro.
