Geboren 1963 in Mumbai, Indien. Studien- und Schreibaufenthalte in den USA. Ethnologiestudium an der Universität Basel. Von 1983-88 schnitt und/oder inszenierte sie verschiedene Kurzfilme, darunter den stummen Dokumentarfilm «A Goat to the Gods» (mit Werner Herzog, Klaus Kinski, Bruce Chatwin). Seit 1988 Schweizer Staatsangehörige.
