When 15-year-old Corinna is caught stealing a soft toy, recently fired broker Martin Holzer intercepts and pays for her. However, Corinna doesn’t appreciate Martin’s help and leaves him standing afterwards. The next day Martin visits Corinna’s home as he wants to speak with her parents. Corinna tries to turn him away, until Martin makes a dreadful discovery: Corinna’s drug addict mother is lying dead in her bed. Scared of telling the authorities in case she would have to go into care, Corinna has been going to school as though nothing had happened. Impulsively, Martin promises to help her. He has no idea what he is letting himself in for…
