The “Filmoteca de Catalunya” film archive in Barcelona presents a comprehensive Alain Tanner retrospective from September 9–28, 2014, in collaboration with SWISS FILMS.

Eleven fiction films and one documentary from the years 1969 – 2004 will be screened, together with Pierre Maillard’s documentary film “Alain Tanner, pas comme si, comme ça” (2007), which portrays “the life in film of the founder of Swiss cinema”. Renato Berta, honorary award-winner of the German Cinematography Prize 2014 and Tanner’s longstanding cinematographer, will open the retrospective with “Charles mort ou vif” (1969), which was Tanner’s feature-film debut and also the first time he had worked together with Berta.

In November a further person of note in Swiss filmmaking will be in the spotlight in Barcelona. In collaboration with SWISS FILMS, the Barcelona Independent Film Festival, l’Alternativa (November 17-23) will screen five fiction films by the Swiss cineaste Anne-Marie Miéville from the years 1984 – 2000.
