Seven Swiss coproductions will be screened at the A-film festivals in Venice and Toronto in September. Two film productions with Swiss participation will be present in Venice at the 72nd Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica (September 2-12), and five films were selected for the 40th Toronto International Film Festival TIFF (September 10-20).

The Italian-Swiss-French coproduction “Sangue del mio sangue” by the Italian director Marco Bellocchio will be screened in Venice in the Venezia 72 International Competition. The film, coproduced in Switzerland by Amka Films Productions, was honoured with the Pardo d’onore at the Festival del film Locarno this year. The TV production “L’esercito più piccolo del mondo” by Gianfranco Pannone will be screened out of competition. The documentary about the Pontifical Swiss Guard was coproduced by RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera.

“Sangue del mio sangue” will also be screened in the TIFF Masters section at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival, as well as French director Philippe Garrel’s “L’ombre des femmes”, which was this year’s opening film of the Quinzaine in Cannes and coproduced by Close Up Films in Geneva. The Discovery section will present Belgian director Guillaume Senez’s much-noticed debut film “Keeper”, starring the Swiss acting talent Kacey Mottet Klein in the leading role. The Belgian-Swiss-French coproduction celebrated its premiere in the Cineasti del presente in Locarno and won the Europa Cinema Labels Award there. “Keeper”, coproduced by Louise Productions, will also be screened at Next Wave section in Toronto. Also at the TIFF are the films screened in Cannes: “Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino, shot in the Swiss mountains and coproduced by C-Films (Special Presentations); as well as “Arabian Nights” by Miguel Gomes, coproduced by Box Productions (Wavelengths).
