Andreas Bühlmann will join the SWISS FILMS team at the beginning of October 2016. He will consult Swiss producers of feature and medium-length films, and is responsible for the focus on the young generation of filmmakers, initiated by SWISS FILMS in May 2016. The objective of his consultation is a custom-tailored, international marketing policy for film release in the areas of festival, cinema and VOD, as well as optimal assistance for release by means of SWISS FILMS support measures.

With a degree in Film Studies and experience as a festival curator, Bühlmann will provide Swiss film school graduates and producers with targeted advice for the international release of their debut films and specifically support them in the transition from short to feature-length film productions. Part of this work also involves the SWISS FILMS information events at Swiss film schools.

Bühlmann brings years of professional experience in the areas of festival programming, short film promotion and event organisation. Most recently he was the project manager of the national Short Film Night Tour and was commissioned by Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur to organise the Industry Days. Andreas Bühlmann will take over the “young generation” dossier from Simon Koenig, who started a new position as the managing director of the Filmbüro Zentralschweiz in Lucerne in August. Sylvain Vaucher remains responsible for consulting all Swiss short film producers at SWISS FILMS.

With this focus of consulting on young up-and-coming filmmakers, SWISS FILMS aims to bolster the international presence of debut Swiss films at international festivals and in cinemas. Further support measures are currently being drawn up in collaboration with the Federal Office of Culture for Swiss short and feature-length film productions for VOD, talent promotion and the development of distribution funding outside Europe for launching Swiss productions in selected, key non-European countries.
