“35mm-Musik” is my attempt to elicit sound from mere images. I copied primarily abstract images onto foil and then glued them directly onto the film in such a manner that they not only covered all traces of the image and soundtrack, but actually produced images and sounds as well. The focus of the animation is on the sound, with the film projector serving simply as a musical instrument. The animation of “35mm-Musik” was deliberate on my part, enabling me to accompany it live with other musical instruments in the cinema.
