At a time when Swiss film is discovering new directions, it is important to remember the formidable contribution made by one of the founders of Swiss cinema and an inspiration to film in general: Alain Tanner. Structured alphabetically but not necessarily in the right order, Pierre Maillard’s documentary portrays a life in film and shows Alain Tanner as a man obsessed with handing on the “flame of opposition”. A man who was and continues to be radical, seminal and spirited.
