Inspired by one of Robert Pinget’s books (Autour de Mortin) this documentary film adopts the style of a police inquiry focusing on the author himself, complete with false clues, contradictions and various errors. A series of contradictory interrogations concerning the deeds and behaviour of a certain Mortin, who is himself an author and who is writing a book about a certain Mortier. The film constantly questions the relationship of events with reality: What is imaginary and what is autobiographical? It takes us to locations from the writer’s past which have been transformed in his books – the Savoy region, Touraine – revealing certain secrets…
