It is possible to die with dignity, not only at home and not only in a hospice. Images and scenes from the nursing home at the Limmattal hospital in Schlieren illustrate that the emphasis there lies in maintaining the quality of life and not simply prolonging life at all costs. Care is taken to ensure that every possible wish is fulfilled for everyone until their last breath and that life is the priority, thereby diminishing the fear of dying. The film is supplemented with three visits to a funeral director, who allows for the possibility of rituals and a dignified leave-taking, as was commonplace in earlier times.
