The film plays on the idea of Swiss cleanliness, and the self-cleaning public toilets that are now part of the Swiss landscape. A Japanese man and a tourist couple from Chicago fall victim to one of these devilish devices. Driven by the urge to use a toilet and the desire to see Basel’s cathedral, Mr. Brown leaves the company of his wife to seek out a quiet spot amidst the carnival. Just in time, he finds the ultra-modern automatic WC. But it’s easier to get into one than it is to get out again.
