Four portraits of people living in Santiago de Cuba: the trials and tribulations of everyday life and their dreams for the future. The film also shows the ways in which they struggle through life – a task that requires a lot of imagination, a trick now and again and often times a bit of luck as well. Together with brief interviews on the street, the film offers a panorama of society, rendering visible not only the hardship of everyday life, but also the undaunted creativity and humour which Cubans use in mastering it. Or as Fidel Castro once said: «ÁCuando no hay una solución, hay que inventar otra! – When there is no solution, you have to invent one!»
