Engelberg painter Willy Amrhein (1873-1927) only lived to be 53, but everything he accomplished in his relatively short lifetime over one hundred years ago left its mark in the valley. Willy Amrhein was not only an artist, graphic designer, photographer and filmmaker, but also a journalist and promoter of sports and culture. The film follows the traces left behind by Willy Amrhein and sets his works in the context of present-day Engelberg. The documentary film portrays a unique human being who profoundly influenced society and progress in the course of his life as well as in subsequent years.
