Swiss surgeon Beat Kehrer has a soft spot for children. He becomes acquainted with ten-year-old Saichan in a Mongolian hospital. She is a nomad who has travelled the long distance from the steppe because she needs an operation. The film shows how Dr. Kehrer and his team of Swiss surgeons and anaesthetists pass on their knowledge and experience to their Mongolian colleagues-and why it is difficult for them to leave this exotic world.
