A stingray that flies? A crazy idea surely. Indeed, but that hasn’t stopped Andreas Reinhard from turning this crazy dream of flying into reality. This unusual Swiss and his team of renowned specialists and flying enthusiasts have developed an inflatable, twin-engine aircraft they call the Stingray. It is indeed a marvel, for as well as being able to fly, the stingray is destined to be the source of many additional technical innovations. Otto C. Honegger first became acquainted with Andreas Reinhard and his development team in 1995, and since that date has kept his camera focused on their activities. Thanks to his efforts the spectator has a front row seat as this remarkable story unfolds, from the first moment of inspiration provided by a real stingray gliding effortlessly through its underwater world, to the first sight of the crazy manmade Stingray, gliding just as effortlessly through the air.
