These love stories, playfully woven together, involve an elderly professor, a young girl who does “temp” work, a “singing weatherman” and a rich woman who lives alone. It is a comedy of relationships in which a happy end proves elusive, although the protagonists continue somewhat comically to believe in one right up to the last reel. A film about loving and being loved, growing old, loving an dying, about the world, about time's distortions and impossibilities, a story that is alternatively tender, elegantly sad, and extremely funny.
