The film takes us back to Eva Perón’s visit to Europe between 6 June and 24 August 1947, a moment in history which appears to have been entirely forgotten today. “Evita” made stopovers in Madrid, Rome, Paris and Switzerland, where she received the kind of welcome normally reserved for a head of state. Even at the time there were rumours about secret meetings being arranged with Nazi bankers and former bigwigs of the Third Reich who had gone into hiding. The film’s investigation of the journey from Argentina to Europe focuses on the present-day search for Nazi assets that vanished overnight, and Evita’s secret Swiss accounts. It brings to light unpublished confidential documents and photos containing information about the European diplomats who helped Nazi criminals to escape to Argentina. It also shows how certain bankers helped Nazi assets to “disappear” before the Allies could get their hands on them. In this new light, Eva Perón loses none of her old fascination.

In 1947 Eva Perón travels to Europe, amidst rumours about secret meetings with former Nazi bigwigs, Swiss bankers, vanished fortunes, and an escape route for Nazis in hiding.
