Veal sausage with spaetzle. This traditional menu is offered by the vocational school as part of its new curriculum. Foreign pupils should be given an understanding of Swiss culture. But student Esma does not want to eat sausage. Failed discussions with the teacher and the school director are followed by the intervention of the cantonal education directorate. Esma is given the choice: eat the sausage or be expelled from school.
