The creation of the Swiss Cinémathèque, following the example of the French Cinémathèque and others, was an epic event. Two important figures stand out in this world of sounds and images: Henri Langlois and Freddy Buache. According to Jean Cocteau, one is “the dragon who guards our treasures”; the other, “the minotaur who guides us through the labyrinth of film”, or simply a “go-between” acccording to Freddy Buache. This is amicably confirmed by Michel Contat, Alain Tanner, Pitro Sarto, Jean-Luc Godard and Jacques Chessex, all of whom are satellites in Buache's galaxy.
