The road movie documents the two-week train journey throughout Russia by St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre orchestra together with its conductor. The orchestra is seen as an instrument; its conductor, Valery Gergiev, gives his all – and demands everything from his musicians. The music of Tchaikovsky, Shostakowitch and Schedrin is merged with the sounds of industry and the moving train. Everything becomes music.
