It is said that Beethoven’s The Tempest was inspired by his sighting of a cavalier riding through the forest. As I was coming home, on an iron horse, I filmed the blue twilight ride between Hannover and Berlin. A week later I came across Hélène Grimaud’s recording, and in her liner notes I discovered that she feels particular keys in colour tones, D minor is blue and The Tempest is black and blue…
