The film portrays the life and work of Ignaz Troxler (1780-1866). His childhood in Beromünster, his university studies in Jena, his work as a physician and his criticism of the feudal authorities. In addition, the film provides insights into his philosophy and his political struggle as part of the radical-liberal movement. Impressions of his dwelling places are supplemented with autobiographical quotations, while Brigitte Hilmer, Jo Lang, Pirmin Meier and Peter Heusser provide further content-related information. A search for traces of a man who lived and fought at a time when liberalism was still radical.
