In the shadow of the world-famous novel and film character Dr. Mabuse, an unusual family story unrolls. Aurikel and Bibiane are the daughters of Norbert Jacques, the author of Dr. Mabuse. Bibiane grew up as an adopted child in Zurich and only got to know her sister a few years ago. The 90-year-old Aurikel relates with crystalline clarity her turbulent past to her much younger half-sister: A calm and comfortable childhood near the lake of Constance, until the family is ripped apart by the German Nazi regime. And she also reveals what role their father played in these difficult times.
