A young tourist arrives in Madras, with no particular plans. He meets an enigmatic Indian woman. She is pursuing an old Israeli who is supposed to have visited India already in his youth. This old man had been attempting to prove that Jesus, in his unknown young years, had also visited the Indian subcontinent. After the woman has left, the tourist sets out after her. However, during the search which takes him from the sea all the way to the mountains of southern India, curiosity is transformed into a strange passion as he too begins to look for the Israeli and finally for the proof that Jesus did indeed once live in India. But it is not until he is in the air, on the flight home, that he at last catches up with the old Israeli – Jesus himself! The tourist tries to take a photograph as proof. But before he can click, Jesus vanishes. Left is only the empty seat, the tourist’s astonishment – and the Indian woman he had been looking for.
