The inhabitants of the alpine valleys of canton Grisons have traditionally had a very humble and meagre existence. In many areas the benefits of modern economic prosperity began to trickle down just a few decades ago. Today those who still keep to the old ways are few in number. One of them is Renzo Maroli, a man in his seventies. The year round Renzo lives in simple mountain cabins on the steep hillsides above the alpine village of Castasegna.
