Switzerland is the only country in the world that accords it citizens the power to decide on the purchase of a new combat airplane. Why does the country take the culture of a direct democracy so far, what is to be gained? The film follows the confrontation between supporters and opponents of the purchase of the Swedish Gripen over a period of several months. It takes us into circles that, within a Swiss context, could not be more opposite: from clubs of uniformed officers to anti-war groups in faded T-shirts. The campaign regarding the Gripen, full of twists and turns, ended with a result no less spectacular: the very first defeat for supporters of the Swiss army in a popular vote.
