Biondina Salvatore, an 83-year-old Italian woman from a small village in the Abruzzi region of Italy, had to leave her home and garden to join her son and his wife in Switzerland. What does a day in the life of this emigrant resemble? How does she cope with homesickness? How should real gnocchi taste? This tribute to “My very sweet grandmother”, is the portrait of a very old woman who towards the end of her life finds herself again confronted with radical changes in her circumstances.
