On a remote island in Thailand, Fritz Joss, a 32-year-old Swiss man from Bernese Oberland, attempts to stop eating with the aid of a manual for the so-called “21-day process” and be sustained thereafter only by light. Changing over to “pranic nourishment” is, however, appreciably more difficult than anticipated and Fritz is often at his limit, especially the first 7 days during which he must also abstain from drinking. Astonishing from the start is the well-nigh childlike naiveté and wholeheartedness with which Fritz has embarked on his venture. Fritz is steadfastly convinced of mind over body and that one only has to believe strongly enough to overcome all material needs.
