They first meet in a hotel room. She is an actress and immediately begins to work on her text: “I have such an appetite for life that I could never sustain myself being only me!”. He is a filmmaker: “The pages she was reading to me were like fragments of a mirror. I therefore decided to look at her with the eyes of the text”. This is the way a book – “La Langue d’Anna” by Bernard Noël – becomes the third character of the story, and a 3-voice fugue begins. Scene after scene, the film undresses our certitudes. “How to explain to somebody who gazes at your bareness and is satisfied with it, that you are not yet really bare?” It is a game, of course. It takes place on the borders of fiction and reality. It is deprived neither of tenderness nor of humour. But it does not spare anything or anybody. The questioning is about one’s identity, about one’s perception of the other’s glance, therefore about image.
