The central theme of the film addresses the different ways the Bosnian war is dealt with and remembered. It shows the impact on people’s personal lives as they interact with various forms of occupational services performed by (public) people who share this unwanted wartime legacy and how collective rituals of remembrance coexist with this violent history which is inscribed indelibly onto the countryside. It is a tourist-friendly internal processing of the history of a city based on stories about photographic work during the war. However, “Put mira” is also a journey through Bosnia-Herzegovina. Tour guide and escort is photographer Goran Galic who, through his photography, wants to learn and understand the home of his parents and their history with his own eyes and attempt to “assess the situation”, as he himself describes it.
