A fatal car accident brings Superintendents von Burg and Gertsch to the Bernese Jura mountains. All indications point to the fact that the victim of the accident, a young surveyor who apparently had uncovered the devious stratagems of certain polluters of the local environment, did not end up in the ravine without a little “assistance”. After much difficulty, the investigations of the two sleuths lead them to a rather strange rural sect.
