«A way of doing» is a biofilmography comprised of film excerpts and interviews of those who worked with Michel Soutter. The sequences have been edited in a manner close to Soutter's own poetic style. As implied in the title, those interviewed have been asked to comment on the artist's way of working. Their commentary illustrates the influence which the conditions in which a film is created has upon its ultimate form. Making films in Switzerland was a political act.
