Eight men meet to celebrate the ancient ritual of the sweat lodge. The film takes viewers on a journey with these men who have set forth to return to their true self. Through rounds of discussion and silence, dancing and singing, rituals and symbols, they come closer to one another, and then distance themselves to focus on attaining their personal access to the core ritual. Fire, red-hot stones, damp soil and the ritualized process of sweating serve to release the body and mind from conditioned, everyday life in today’s society. Viewers gain insight into a male world far removed from rivalry and the pressure to perform.
