A young Turkish girl, Hülya, is torn between two cultures. Sent against her will by her family in Germany to stay with an uncle in Turkey, she runs away planning to return immediately to Germany. As the tragic heroine of this oriental fairy tale, Hülya begins a personal odyssey through the strange land of her forebears, an odyssey that leads to a psychiatric clinic. Hülya at last succeeds in returning to Germany, only to find herself totally lost in a crisis of identity.
