Yvonne Bovard, a violinist from Geneva, emigrated to the USSR in 1936. Working in radio, where she was in charge of children’s programmes, Yvonne Bovard was able to meet not only Sergey Prokofiev but others including the Swiss conductor Ernest Ansermet. She was arrested in 1940 and sent to Siberia, a victim of Stalinism.
