Three former terrorists return to Berlin, their home town, after spending many years in exile. Shortly after their arrival they get involved in a shoot-out which only the woman survives. She hides at the place of an old friend from her political past. Torn between solidarity and convenience, her friend tries to rid himself of her. Outside, the search for her begins using methods which have proved successful in the past. The private television station TV-Z takes part in the action from the start, and its leading figure is a popular comic hero known as Z-man.
